The Wizard of Gore

The 1970 original horror film titled, "The Wizard of Gore", was directed by Herschell Gordon Lewis. The film stars actor Ray Sager as Montag the Magnificent, a magician/illusionist who uses hypnosis to perform grisly stage tricks. Montag's audience is horrified when they see female volunteers mutilated on stage by the magician's swords, chain saw and drill press. Montag opens his act with the words, "What is real? How do you know at this second you aren't asleep in your beds, dreaming that you are here in this theatre?"

Ray Sager

Actor/producer Ray Sager was born Ray Szegho. Key Records recorded Mr. Sager at the Mayfair Theatre, March 2, 2012 as he made a special guest appearance. Sager was invited to speak by Mayfair's programmer Lee Demarbre before the rare screening of "The Wizard of Gore", one of his earlier films. Demarbre who is part owner of the Mayfair Theatre is also a Film Producer. Sager shared his story of how he got the lead part by chance after the actor who originally had the part had a mental break down.
